In regard to the controversy over the lack of records for the Warrenton Cemetery - they were destroyed in a tragic fire that occurred at the home of the sexton in the mid to late 1940's. The cemetery had to be "closed" at that time. Only people who had marked lots were allowed to be buried there. There is no sexton, the township trustees keep the cemetery mowed and try to prevent it from becoming overgrown. Most of the older tombstones were marble and because this was a highly industrial, coal burning area, the acid rain has dissolved most of them to a point of being unreadable. this is especially irksome to me, my G-Grandfather is buried there and I would love to be able to read his b.\d. dates!!
