My post had nothing to do with Ms. Smith who, to my knowledge has never asked me, personally, for a lookup....so, I'm unsure as to why she feels it was directed at her?......I checked back, and the only thing I see for her is a query to the list in general, and NOTHING to me personally.......so, I'm afraid that you have confused querying a genealogical list with sending a personal request to a name on one of the gen. help lists....the 2 things are completely separate and have nothing to do with eachother! However, if you are unfamiliar with the county help lists, then let me assure you that they are great sources of information.....most every county has one, and I recommend you give them a try...all counties are different and they all offer different things, but you need to visit the county site for each different county in each state you have family in....and, see what they have. Here's how; visit http://www.usgenweb.com Click on State Pages for the project click on graphical map click on the state you're interested in click on the county..... Good luck....and, keep this as a favorite place....then, everytime you have a "new" ancestor in a "new" area, visit that county site first, to see what they offer. ----- Original Message ----- From: Jennifer Smith <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, October 17, 2001 1:11 PM Subject: Re: [OHJEFFER] asking for lookups > I wasn't asking for a look-up as I do not know what I could possibly have > looked-up.
