I was interested in the reference to John Sapp and his second wife, Abigail Willis Sapp. Actually, I am looking for evidence that John Sapp and his first wife Hettie Barkus were the parents of George Sapp b 23 Sep 1795 who served in the War of 1812 and later moved out of the area, probably in the direction of Athens County. My gt-gt grandfather, George Sapp b 1819 is believed to be his son. George, Sr.'s wife may have been Lydia who was born in VA (perhaps in an area that is now WV). He apparently died soon after leaving Jefferson Co. Any information about John or his son George would be welcome. I know it is a distant connection, but it never hurts to ask. Carol in CA
I am trying to find out who my ggg grandfathers parents and siblings were. According to his Civil War pension file, he was born in Jefferson Co, OH. His date of birth is Sept. 26, 1831, he was married in Daviess Co, IN to Barbary Noland on Aug 20, 1859. How he got from Ohio to Indiana is a mystery, my best guess is that he worked for the railroad that was built up from Lexington to Washington, IN. If there is anyone with information, I would be happy to share with you.
