    1. [OHJEFFER] Campbell and Johnson of Jefferson Co ca 1800-1821
    2. Hello My name is Robert Hart Keggan, and I am new to this list. I am a descendant of a Campbell and may be a descendant of a Johnson line--both from Jefferson Co, OH. The most I know is set down below. My maternal grandmother was a Campbell from Morrow Co, OH. I have the line back to a Mr. A. Campbell of Jefferson Co, OH d ca 1819. I don't know who his wife was. But suspect she might be a Johnson. The Morrow Co History of 1880 states that a Mrs. A. Campbell moved to what is now Morrow Co, OH from Jefferson Co, OH around 1821. She was the widow of Mr. A. Campbell. She had at least three known sons: Andrew b 25 Jul 1803- d 21 Oct 1878, Johnson, and William. No reference is made to Mrs. A's maiden surname or given name. I have suspicions that Mrs. A., the widow, might have been a Johnson. She named one of her sons, Johnson--and there was a Johnson settler near the new Campbell homestead in the same section in Morrow Co, OH. If I remember right, I did find a marriage in Jefferson Co, OH of a Campbell to a Johnson (or Johnston) in the right time frame. In past research (which was lost in a 1995 house fire), I recall that I had suspicions that Mr. A. was possibly Mr. Andrew Campbell--probably because he named one of his sons Andrew. Possibly because of the marriage record--which I no longer have. Also, that he might have ran a Ferry Boat Service in or around Jefferson Co. OH. He may have died in a drowning. Note: What was Jefferson Co in 1800 may be parts of several smaller counties now. Can anyone help me on these lines. Thank you. email to [email protected]
