William is buried in the Old Seceders Cemetery, at Mt. Pleasant. He was 82 when he died, and was born in 1745. I checked the Old Seceder's records, and he is buried with Hannah Hawthorn.....his wife?...also, a Samuel J. Hawthorn is listed with them. I don't know if you are aware of it, but the Seceder's were a sect of Presbyterianism who broke with the organized church in Scotland in the 1730s, and some of the followers came to the colonies, bringing their own sect with them. There were quite a few churches in Pennsylvania, that I know of, and several in Ohio.....the Seceders' church at Mt. Pleasant is not longer standing, but the cemetery is well kept up thanks to a sizable donation to the church many years ago.....it's a very lovely spot.
