Hi to everyone! I'm new to this list but not new to Jefferson Co., OH, genealogy. I've been researching the KEEVER/KEVER and ROBY/ROBEY names for five years and even visited Steubenville and the old Keever Hill Farm once. Bridgett Osz was great help at that time. Although I got lots of good info on that trip, I still never broke through the break wall of who the parents of John Keever and Mary (Polly) Roby were and who John's first wife was. John was born circa 1760-62, supposedly in Frederick Co., MD, but lived in PA before coming to OH in about 1802. Mary (Polly) Roby (b. Feb. 25, 1782 in MD) was John's second (at least) wife; they were married Sept, 2, 1813 in Jefferson County, OH. Believe his first wife died after 1807 when their youngest daughter was born and before Sept. 2, 1813 when he married Roby. \ Children of John Keever and his first wife were: *Susana (b. unknown; m. Wm Watson May 6, 1813, in Jefferson Co., OH) *Jacob (b. unknown in PA; m. Anna Hoagland Sept. 18, 1817 in Jefferson Co., OH; d. circa 1850 in Van Wert Co., OH) *Mary (b. unknown; m. Richard King Jan. 12, 1815 in Jefferson Co., OH) *William (b. Sept. 5, 1805 in Jefferson Co., OH; m. Anna W. Smith March 1, 1827 in Jefferson Co., OH; d. Feb. 8, 1890 in Center Twp., Morgan Co., OH *Elizabeth (b. 1807 in Jefferson Co., OH; d. Feb. 3, 1890 in Morgan Co., OH, Infirmary. Children of John Keever and Mary (Polly) Roby were: *Sarah (b. 1815 in Jefferson Co., OH; m. John Tucker) *Joseph (b. 1817 in Jeff Co, OH; m. Cynthia Ann Garrett May 21, 1840 in Morgan Co. OH; d. April 8, 1888 in Union Twp., Adams Co., IA)--My great-great-grandparents. *Martha M. (b. 1824 in Jefferson Co., OH; married Jacob Jones March 8, 1846 (either in Jeff Co or Morgan Co, OH) *Catharine (b. unknown; m. John Carson June 14, 1832 either in Jefferson or Morgan Co., OH) This John Keever died in Morgan Co. OH Jan. 23, 1852 and is buried in Bristol Twp (Watson Cemetery). Wife Mary (Polly) Keever died March 2, 1863 in Morgan Co., OH and buried near John (but not next to) in Bristol Twp's Watson Cem. Thank you for reading this whole thing, if you have.
