John, The archives of any Rootsweb Mailing List can be found by going to: http://archiver.rootsweb.com/ Click on the first letter or number of the name of the list; then click on the name of the list. To join a list you send an email to the list with the word Subscribe in the Subject line. For instance, if you wanted to join the Ohio County WV list you would send to WVOHIO-L-request@rootsweb.com with Subscribe as the subject. To join the Ashby mailing list send to ASHBY-L-request@rootsweb.com with Subscribe as the subject. The Miami County KS list would be KSMIAMI-L-request@rootsweb.com, again with Subscribe as the subject. As a general rule the names of lists for the states begin with the postal code abbreviation for the state i.e., OH for Ohio, WV for West Virginia, VA for Virginia, PA for Pennsylvania, etc., followed by the name of the county in the individual state. PAALLEGH for Allegheny County, Pennsylvania, LAEVANGE for Evangeline Parish, Louisiana, etc. Hope this answers your question.
