    3. (apologies to Carol; I forgot that this list is set to send to individuals, and not the whole list upon reply; sems every list I'm on is different!) My particular brick wall stops after one Thomas Pope, who appears in the 1820 Jefferson Co. census, in Warren township. He is shown there as being born between 1800 and 1810; he and his family later moved on to Tuscarawas Co, then Coshocton. By 1830 he was married to Elizabeth Case; she died sometime before October of 1839, when he remarried Elizabeth Burris Carns. Thomas and the first Elizabeth were the parents of my great grand father, Joseph Pope, plus several other children--Israel, Abel, John, Thomas, Elizabeth, and Mary Jane being the ones I know the names of. Elizabeth Case I have no further information on; she may have been related to William Case, another 1820s Jefferson County resident. Thomas is theoretically the son of John Pope, of Jefferson Co (1820 census, Salem township), who appears to have had a brother named George--both were in Jefferson Co by 1810, with George appearing in Harrison Co. bt 1830. I have no idea where they came from (although my grandmother always maintained the family 'came from the Chesapeake'), names of these two men's wives, or the names of other children, on another other information other than they were early settlers of the area. Thomas, by the way, is shown in various censuses as being born in OH, PA, MD, and VA, sometime between 1790 and 1810. It's almost like someone used the 'throw a dart at the dartboard' method of getting information...
