The Workman family arrived in Jefferson County, Ohio, about 1830 from Ireland and settled in the Steubenville, Island Creek TWP area. Through the years they married into many families in the area; Shaw, Ault [Alt], Burchfield, Lee, Cooper, Vandyke [dike], Walker, Stroud, Dunlop, Johnson, Arthurs, Harmon, Bickerstaff, Neal, Liggitt, McCarroll, McMurray.
