    3. From my past experience, you can get "informational" copies of vital records for $1.00. This is usually not published anywhere. And the time to receive an informational copy is no longer than waiting for a certified copy. Kathryn --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. 3. Hello Jefferson Co. Listers, I am trying to locate info about my husband's GGG Grandmother Nancy BOYD. According to the LDS website a Nancy BOYD married Thomas ALEXANDER 23 Mar 1836 in Jefferson, Ohio. I'm assuming this means Jefferson County, Ohio. The census records vary for Nancy showing that she was born in either OH or PA. Would appreciate any help anyone can give me on Nancy BOYD. Thanks so very much, Barb Crawford Hocking Co., OH

    1. [OHJEFFER] scam-passing it on
    2. Jean Scarlott
    3. Hi Everyone: The old genealogy scam is back. www.genseekers.com Behind the password protection are links to the free genealogy on-line. There is no content of their own. In order to get the "5-day free trial" you have to surrender a credit card or bank account number. You have to cancel within 5 days or you get dinged. Guess what? The cancellation e-mail bounces. Does this surprise you? One person who recently fell for the come-on had his/her account dinged not once, but twice. It is time to remind folks on your state and county mailing lists about these scoundrels. It has been a couple of years since we have mentioned this. Permission is granted to pass this on. 1. [OHJEFFER] Kerr family of Richmond---1890ish
    2. I have a Nancy Temperance (Nannie) Groves (1859-1886) who married John W. Kerr (1854-1896) in October of 1879. During one of my trips to Steubenville I discovered that they had a son, John Jones Kerr, born February 17, 1882 in Jefferson Co. I know that John W. was the son of John Kerr and Rachel Wheeler and that Nannie was the daughter of Jonas Groves and Jane Douglass. But I had no clue that they had children. Is John Jones Kerr their only child? I think I may have found him on the 1930 census living in Baltimore, Maryland. Could this be correct??? I could not find him on the 1920 census. 1. [OHJEFFER] Threshing dinners
    2. My husband who is a 78 year old retired farmer remembers threshing very well. The farmer with the thresher machine was paid about $.05 a bushel. There was a threshing crew to cut the wheat and bring it to the machine. The threshing crew was paid $1.50 a day and the owner of the wagon and team of horses to haul the wheat up to the thresher got $1.50 a day. The dinner was either usually home grown chicken, ham, or roast, lots of potatoes, biscuits, gravy. In other words like a big thanksgiving dinner. Women took pride in putting on the best meal.
