    1. [OHJEFFER] Cora Elizabeth Wells (Mrs. Clark) Householder
    2. Being a bit of a perfectionist, I like to have the parents of all of the spouses in my data base. I am hoping someone out there knows who Cora's parents were. She was born 10 Nov 1872 in Chautauqua Co., New York, married Clark Householder in 1900, and died 7 Mar 1956, buried at New Somerset. Her obit from the Steubenville newspaper says she had lived in the Toronto area for 70 years. But who were her parents???? I can't find her on the 1880 census. Can someone help??? Thanks, Serena in Michigan

    3. The "All Saints Russian Orthodox cemetery is located on county road 61 between Amsterdam and Wolf Run. My grandson took the pictures in this cemetery. Many of the stones are written in Russian and since I don't read Russian I have listed them as Russian stones. Also can someone tell me if there is a reason why the stone in pictures 107-110 is located where it is? Can anyone transcribe the Russian stones for me? 3. Hi, I am also researching the PORTER's in Jefferson Co.. My gg grandmother was Rachel PORTER her parents are unknown. All I know was she and her parents were born in Maryland according to the Federal Census. She married my gg grandfather, Thomas KIRKPATRICK, in Jefferson Co on Feb 8, 1842. They later moved to Wheeling WV where my g grandfather was born in 1848. By 1850 Federal Census they are listed on the Jackson Co VA census. I have often wondered if Rachel was connected to Nicholas PORTER but have not researched it completely. If my memory is working this morning I believe a Nicholas PORTER was listed in the Jackson Co VA census and they were from the Jefferson Co OH area. Need to look at the info to be sure. Any possible connection??? This is my brick wall, big time. Thanks for any insight, Becky ----- Original Message ----- From: "W. A. 2. Jean Scarlott
    3. I've added some pictures to the Bergholz Cem site. Most are views of the cemetery so you can see the size of this cemetery. Also have added chalked pictures of Anne and James Allman stones, only problem on the chalked ones the name is spelled Allmon, so the program would take them. These are old table top stones. Also cleaned up one of the stones in the "snake pit" and added it. The link is http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290413723&idx=1 Jean

    3. HOLY MOLY - that email got my attention! It was your comment about 'beating the snakes' to the cemetery. I'm a Michigan girl, and I guess I need to be educated about the potential for chance meetings with snakes in Ohio. Specifically, Jefferson and Muskingum County areas. I'm planning a trip down there at the end of June - guess it's too much to hope those snakes will not be around? Seriously, you guys have DEADLY snakes down there don't you? 3. The Western Pennsylvania Genealogical Society will present Dr. David Dixon in its Monthly Lecture Series at 7 p.m., Thursday, 10 April 2003 at the Carnegie Public Library Lecture Hall, 4400 Forbes Ave., Pittsburgh, PA. Dr. Dixon's topic will be Men Used to the Woods: Colonel Bouquet's Scouts and the Battle of Bushy Run. This presentation will focus on the 14 men who served as rangers for Colonel Henry Bouquet's relief expedition to Fort Pitt during the Pontiac Indian Uprising of 1763. Dr. Dixon will begin with a discussion of the paucity of experienced frontiersmen available in the Pennsylvania back country, and of the British military's need for such individuals during the conflict. For the first time, the identity of these men will be revealed and their backgrounds and later lived will be discussed. Dr. Dixon is a professor of History at Slippery Rock University, and Curator of the Old Stone House State Historic Site. He is a member of the Pennsylvania Humanities Council's Commonwealth Speaker Program, and recently completed a manuscript for publication by the University of Oklahoma Press entitled Never Come to Peace Again: The Pontiac Indian Uprising of 1763 to 1765. 3. Folks Spring is almost here finally so it is time to be off to the cemeteries. Myself and Jim Baxter visited three cemeteries this afternoon. Thought I would put the small Gordon Cem. online to give folks an idea of what we are undertaking here. Flora Verstraten cemetery project chairman has undertaken a huge project. First to find all the remaining cemeteries, second to GET TO THEM, and third to copy all stones found there. >From the pictures you well see what she and her volunteers are up against. Stripe mine areas, getting into them, then up to them and worst of all getting back down from them. Found the easiest way to come back down, the back of my jeans showed the way. The link is listed below http://www.imagestation.com/album/?id=4290414085 Remember you must sign in to view the cemeteries. Jean
