    1. Re: SMITH, GREEN, THOMPSON, RANKIN
    2. Hi Bobbie-I think we have talked before. My GG Grandfather was James C. Smith, b: 1790-1800, he married Ann Thompson or Ann Green, b: 1790-1800. I know very little else on him. In the 1853 census it shows him living in a house with Hugh Thompson and next door to John and Joseph Smith. They lived in Smithfield, Twp. One of his sons John V. Smith, b: Aug 14, 1830 also married an Ann Thompson, b: Dec 25, 1836, Jefferson Co. OH. She died Dec 27, 1873. Her father was John Thompson, b: May 5, 1816, Smithfield Twp., Jefferson Co. OH. He died Jul 25, 1887 in Kirkwood, IL. Ann's mother was Rachael Francis, b: Apr 27, 1816 in Jefferson Co., OH. She died Jun 10, 1910 in Kirkwood, IL. There children were: Ann, Hugh R., Elizabeth, and James Francis. I hope this helps. Ron Smith

    2. In a message dated 99-01-20 18:27:56 EST, you write: << I have a Sarah Eliza Griffith (b. 10/4/1864 d.9/5/1908) who married a William Hackathorn (he would have died sometime between 1884 when daughter Ina was born and 1892 when Sarah married her second husband, James Andrew Morrow). Ina was James Andrew Morrow's third wife. None of the women you mentioned are the sisters of Sarah and none of her sisters married Hackathorns. >> Hello Jean, Thank you so much for replying about Sarah Griffith. Information that I have passed down through the family, says that "Sadie" Griffith and William Hackathorn divorced and that William remarried to a woman names Loretta OSLER. Information I have on daughter Ina Hackathorn is as follows: Children of Ina HACKATHORN and Unknown McABIER: 1. Blanch McABIER, b. 07 Jab 1907, d. 26 Dec 1954, m. William PRICE 2. Florence McABIER, b. 28 Oct 1908, m. 1)Harry LIGHTFOOT 2) August TEMME Children of Ina HACKATHORN and James MORROW: 3. Oscar MORROW Note: No Issue 4. Claude MORROW Note: killed WW2 5. Clyde MORROW Note: died 4 yrs old 6. Shirley MORROW 7. Dean MORROW 8. Charles Othal MORROW I have other descendant information that I hesitate to post because of the privacy of living persons. William Hackathorn was my gr-grandfather's brother. My grandmother Elsie Marcella HACKATHORN Moore was born and raised in Bergholz and is helping me piece together the family. She's 91 and going strong, but says that that was a long time ago to remember and the family was (and is) quite large. I would appreciate the names of Sarah's parents and siblings, if you have that information, so that I can fill in those gaps. Please let me know if there's anything I can do for you. You've helped a lot. Thanks again, Hollie Ann Henke holliefrog@aol.com

    2. Hi Anna, I'm sorry but I don't have anything at this time to connect the two families. I was thinking that William Rankin might have married one of James Smith's daughters. What you sent me would rule that out. I have been trying to trace a William Smith from Washington County, PA for several months. I found some information that a William Smith deeded some land in Jefferson County, OH, 10 Aug 1809. He was living at the time in Washington Co., PA. I have a feeling that James and Matthew were brothers and William and Catherine were their parents. Please keep me updated on anything your daughter comes up with and I will do the same. Thanks, Ron Smith
