    3. Hello Mary, That Brashear Family History Vol. 1, on pg. 209 mentions, "Move to Fairfax Co., VA. - Shortly after the sheriff's sale, Robert and Charity (Brashear) moved to Fairfax Co., VA where their dau. Ann "Nancy" Brashear, married Moses Ball, and where their son, Asa, was born in 1745." If you are descended from this same family, I strongly recommend you consider purchasing a copy of this 320 pg. book from the author as it would document you back to the original Robert Brasseur who first appears in Virginia's records of 1636: Charles Brashear 5025 Old Cliffs Road San Diego, cA 92120-1153 e-mail: brashear@mail.sdsu.edu This is one of the rare genealogy books which are truly documented and includes a full everyname index. I've forgotten what I paid for it, as I ordered it at pre-publication price, and you would need to decide whether you wanted it in hardback or softcover. Good luck, Julia

    3. Can't help with Frankie or Willie...but: Francis and Marion are male (one uncle, one grandfather) Frances and Marian are female (both are aunts) My name, Kay (also spelled Kaye, Cay) are interchangeable in gender as I've met all spellings listed both male and female. My sister is Kim and the male head of household, next door to us is Kim. There are more than these, but in my family I am satisfied with knowing who they are. 1. Francis Marion the "Swamp Fox"
    2. Randal W Cooper
    3. Dear Researchers of Jefferson County, Ohio, In response to the theme of the male given name "Marion": General Francis Marion, the famed "Swamp Fox" of the Revolutionary War, who successfully utilized guerilla tactics against the British, inspired the name "Francis Marion" or possibly shortened to simply "Marion" in at least some of the naming choices for sons born years after that conflict. The "Dictionary of First Names" by Alfred J. Kolatch states that Marion is a variant form of Marian or Marcus. Marian, actually derived from Mary, can be used for either a male or female. Marcus was created from the Latin name for Mars, the god of War. Randal W. Cooper <rwcooper@kellnet.com> Lorain, Ohio
