Julia, No need to be embarrassed, YOU did the right thing by immediately notifying others. I deal with these risks and problems daily in my job. This is something that eveyone needs to be aware of when using the internet and mailing lists... If you don't own a good (recently updated) virus protection program, I would strongly urge all of you to invest in one. They're relatively cheap. But keep them updated at least quarterly/semi-annually. I tell most of my clients this general rule about computing and it has proven itself over time... "There are two kinds of computer users: those who have lost data, and those who will!" The moral to the above statement...be prepared for data loss by backing up critical data files periodically, and scanning ALL files for viruses on a regular basis. Hi, speaking of the LDS. I just received the "Vital Records Index--North America" put out by them 4 CD's in the set for under $20. It says on the box "These CD's contain information taken from a partial collection of birth, christening, and marriage records of the U.S. and Canada. these records cover approximately 257 years from 1631 to 1888, containing about 4 million names." I also bought the one called. "Vital Records Index British Isles." I haven't had time to look at them yet but I'm sure there is a lot of useful information to be found in these CD's. Judie

I am looking for any info on John McELROY b. May 22, 1758 in No. Ireland and d. Feb. 17, 1841 in Warrenton, Jefferson, Ohio. He married 1) Mary Bohman or Baughman in 1780 in Pa. They had nine children and she died in childbirth with the ninth. He married 2) Margaret (Slade) Hughes on March 27, 1800. They had 10 children, most of whom did not live to adulthood. I imagine he married Margaret in Western Pa. They moved to Warrenton by 1805 or earlier. I am descended from John's son Thomas Hughes McElroy b. 1811. He married Elizabeth Humphrey, d/o John Humphrey and Elizabeth McKee of Warrenton. He was originally from Mercersburg, Pa. If you have any info on John McElroy, Mary Bohman, Margaret (Slade) Hughes, John Humphrey, or Elizabeth McKee, I would appreciate hearing from you.

I have copies of two letters written by Christena Watson in Wheeling, WV to her daughter Mrs. Thomas McKean in Partick Scotland. The letters are dated July and Sept. 1849.
