    3. Thanks Janice, for the LDS website news. Won't this be fantastic. Can't wait. If you find out more, please let us know. I understand that the Eastman's Newsletter has something about it. Their site is supposed to be http://www.ancestry.com/columns/eastman/eastnew/htm. But, it wasn't lit up in blue, so there may have been an error on ancestry when they wrote it out. Maybe just putting it in the search will get it. Bobbie >From: "Janice G. 2. In a message dated 2/22/99 1:53:23 AM Eastern Standard Time, SidandJer@aol.com writes: << Hi, I found out my mother's cousin, Roy Fisher worked in the Bradley Mine which was located between Dillonvale and Smithfield. there was another one around there called the Budd Mine I believe. Roy was born in 1901 and died in 1972. His wife was Goldie De Yarmon. Does anyone connect to these surnames? Or have more information on the coal mines in the area? Or does anyone know of a book that has any info in it about them? Thanks, Judie >> Hello Judie, I was emptying out my e-mail and almost missed your above note. My response is not about the coal mines; but the two families. My gg-gm was Mary Jane DeYarmon (1832-1900) m/George HAYNES (1829-1907) of Dillonvale/Mt Pleasant. I don't have the DeYarmon sibs and children nearby. Their dau. Carrie m/William Bates GARRETSON. With the Fisher family; (again I don't have the needed papers) one of two maternal uncles, Elwood or Charles GIVENS, born around 1905, m/a Lorraine Fisher of Dry Fork/Dillonvale. I attended school (1st and 2nd grades) at Bradley. Small World. Any connection? Audrey, transplant from Jefferson Co., Ohio to Florida.

    3. Hello Helen, I am wondering how to find out what happened to our John Thompson Family after the 28 Aug.1850 Census, Cross Creek Twp. Jefferson Co. OH. They were all in it, but haven't been able to get the 1860 census. They were dwelling number 1368, family no.1429, page 191. They were listed as John age 45, wife Marie age 42, son, John age 20, Matthew age18,Mary Jane 17,Moore 11,Nancy 9, Margaret 7, Richard 5, Caroline 4 and Thomas 1. Is the 1860 census on line? Sure would love to find them. 3. I take great joy in having spent 2 years attending the one-room school in Kenwood, OH (between Adena and Cadiz). Our family was living on a farm in that area, so my brothers and I walked the road, railroad, and climbed the hill to the school each school day. Our teacher was Olive Vehre with whom I kept in touch until her death. I regret that I never asked her if she had any photos of the school. Does anyone have any pictures of one-room schools in the Jefferson and Harrison County area? Have any of you attended a one-room school or had families to did? What were the schools like which your ancestors or yourself attended in Jefferson County? I'm one of the few people still living who can brag that I was the best student in both my seventh and eighth grade classes. Unfortunately, I must also admit that I was the worst. And the only student in those grades. <LOL> I have just bid on and got some Adena School Yearbooks for the late 1920's from Ebay.com. Although they are before my schooling there, I'm anxiously awaiting their arrival with the anticipation that it might show some of my relatives/ancestors. Also, the "ads" in them should reignite some memories. Ed Durbin

I found a quit claim deed in Jeff.Co. that list the children of James, but it doesn't list Thomas on it.If you would want the names let me know. Fanny (Frances) (Long) McCullough, may have been a dau of David Long who came early to Jefferson Co. along with the McCulloughs and the Cunninghams. Fanny and David McCullough had six children: John b. 1802/4 James b. 1808 Elizabeth, b. ca. 1810 Richard, b. ca. 1812 Andrew b. ca. 1815 David, b. ca. 1819 David McCullough perished in a storm December 1818, about a mile or two from Fernwood, Jeff. Co., Ohio. Fanny married Thomas Rutledge in 1834 so must have been about 44 or 45 then. If you find out who Fanny's parents are I would be interested. Another Long, James Long also married into the McCullough family. I would be interested in knowing the names of James Rutledge's children. Thanks Helen
