Hi Ed, I am glad that you enjoyed the photos as much as I did, but I did not "post" them to the internet, I just found them there using a search engine. WoW! What a find! I grew up in Dillonvale, my Dad grew up in Mt. Pleasant, and my mom grew up near Smithfield. Hi Carole, Thank you VERY much for posting the pictures of Dillonvale, Adena and Mt. Pleasant, OH. My ancestors have lived in each of the three towns. I especially appreciate the pictures of Adena since that is where I was born and spent most of my childhood until my mid-teens. I recognize several of the pictures and have memories of some of the places that were still there when I was a child. My grandmother always bought her "chicken feed" at the old mill and used to use the cloth of the colorful sacks it came in for her dresses and aprons. I still remember the musty smell of the building that was located near the railroad tracks. Although I was not yet born when the picture of the flood was taken, I do remember numerous floods that used to come almost to our front door and almost always took the foot bridges that we had to use to cross the creek -- "crick" -- to get to our homes. I plan to visit the site to check for more detail in the pictures and for any new ones that you post from time to time. My family surnames were Durbin and Ainscough. Thanks again, Ed Durbin (now living in southwestern NY State) Carole Dutton Malisiak wrote: > > Dillonvale, OH; Mt. Hi, again, John, I did not find it there either. Nor did I find the Northern Cemetery! But I did a search for Smithfield and I did find a link which lists a church! see below http://www.churchangel.com/WEBOH/smithfield.htm and I found this! William Sharon (1821-1885) Born in Smithfield, Ohio, January 9, 1821. U.S. Senator from Nevada, 1875-81. Died in San Francisco, Calif., November 13, 1885. Original interment at Laurel Hill Cemetery (which no longer exists), San Francisco, Calif.; reinterment at Cypress Lawn Memorial Park. (See also his congressional biography.) at the political graveyard. http://politicalgraveyard.com/geo/CA/SM.html Happy hunting, Carole ------------- Carole Dutton Malisiak wrote: > Hi John, > > I don't know if this is the case in your case, but my family always called > the Northern Cemetery, located in Smithfield, OH, the Smithfield cemetery > where many of my ancestors are buried. In the book " The Tenmile Country and its Pioneer Families" Page 21, about the frontier rangers, it states: " Col. William Crawford was about to go on an expedition, however,an alarm in the vicinity of Wheeling Creek caused all the efficient men of the vicinity to be called off in that direction, and they took up the chase of the Indians who had killed the Davidson Family near Ryerson's Station." This was in 1782 Ryerson Station is in what is now Green Co.PA on Rt. 21 very close to the WV border. This used to be Wash. Co. Does anyone know the story about this family? Has anyone discovered that they were related to them? There were several Davidson familys in Wash CO.,PA and I am trying to sort them out. Thank you for any help. Joan

Hello, We have THOMPSON family...information from family notes: James THOMPSON (b 1832 County Derry, Ireland) married in Ireland to Nancy Jane Millar ( b 1836 County Derry, Ireland) (was Nancy a nickname for some other name at that time?) (Last name could be Miller -both spellings show up in various records) ***OHIO REFERENCE: They had son John M(illar) THOMPSON b 1863 in Steubenville, Ohio. (I have no idea if there are other children??) John THOMPSON married 1881...in Ohio? in Missouri? in Nebraska? to Amanda Elizabeth SWIGERT (b 1863 MO) (Although name is spelled SWIGERT, it could be Swigart, or maybe another variation.) John and Amanda THOMPSON moved to Adams County/Hall County Nebraksa where they had son Clinton Adam THOMPSON in 1888. Does anyone recognize this THOMPSON family? Thank you for any assistance. Hi all, Does anyone have information on a Sarah Miller who married a Charles Armstrong, July 29, 1829 Jefferson Co. I know there were lots of Millers around Island Creek area. And there were two Charles Armstrong listed in the 1830 Census. One Island Creek (Mine) and one at Mt. Pleasant. My Charles Armstrong , age 89 ( Island Creek) also had a young Charles Armstrong age 15 living and also a Margaret Nicholes or Nichols with him in the 1850 Census. Charles had one known child, Robert, who also lived at Island Creek and this young Charles is not his son. So looking for the father of this young Charles. Would appreicate any information on this Sarah Miller family,Mt. Pleasant Charles Armstrong or this Margaret Nicholes or Nichols. Thanks for any help you might have. Marge, Kansas
