    3. The BEST source for maps that list every road is the COUNTY ENGINEERS OFFICE and they usually will list all items of interest INCLUDING CEMETERIES!! That is a bonus! I don't have the address to the Jefferson Co. Engineers office BUT I am sure someone on the list has a way of looking it up! Some offices give them to you and others cost a dollar or 2. Good Luck! 1. Samuel and Mary (MOOREHEAD) MCCRORY family; GREENWOOD, TAYLOR
    2. Karla Staudt
    3. Hello! I am looking for information on the family of Samuel and Mary (MOOREHEAD) McCRORY. I do not have much to go on. They were Irish immigrants (or may have never immigrated) and likely birth ranges for them would be 1789-1823. They had one known daughter: Lillie (possibly Lillian) McCRORY b.1839 in Ireland. She was in the U.S. no later than April 1867 when she married Thomas B. TAYLOR in Steubenville, Jefferson County, Ohio. There also seems to be a link to the GREENWOOD surname of Co. Antrim, Ireland as well and in Steubenville - including the names of Joseph and Hugh GREENWOOD. Joseph b. Feb 1823 in Ireland and Hugh b.abt.1828 in Ireland. Both emigrated to the U.S. about 1845. If you recognize any part of this, I would love to hear from you - I have a lot of information on Lillie (McCrory) Taylor and the Greenwoods of Ireland and US and more than a few unsolved mysteries that I would love to share. Thank-you for any help you are able to offer. Karla [email protected]

    3. Hello! I have written before, but I found a new clue and am hoping it may strike something in somebody's research. I have found a personal note in a Greene Co., PA, newspaper from June 26, 1878, that says Martha Buchanan Ragan, wife of Rev. Zachariah Ragan, visited Greene Co., PA, with her two daughters -- the wife of Dr. Zink of Steubenville, Jefferson Co., OH, and the wife of Mr. Beazell of New York. I know Martha had two daughters, Jane E., b. 1835, and Rachel A., b. 1848, in the 1850 census of Jefferson Co., OH. I do not know if she had more children. Martha died July 27, 1886 in Jefferson Co., Ohio. I do not know when Zachariah died or what became of the girls. I would also like to know where they are all buried. I appreciate any help! Thank you! 2. I agree with you about to sticking to genealogy here, but I would also like to make a suggestion--would everybody please check first to see if it is a true virus and not a hoax before sending them on to anyone. I hope the website address I sent yesterday will be of help, maybe some people don't know where to check out the authenticity of these so-called "viruses". Thanks, Judie

    3. May I make an appeal for everyone to stop using this list to warn the unsuspecting about viruses. Although these warnings are well-intentioned, it is a fact that 99.99% of virus rumors are just that - hoaxes. The few instances of bona fide viruses - which by the way are generally only propagated on corporate networks - can be checked on such websites as Symantec.com. Please stick to genealogy. Thanks. The following is the text that may be received as an email message: Virus Alert VIRUS WARNING To ALL INTERNET USERS: A new virus has just been discovered that has been classified by Microsoft (www.microsoft.com) and by McAfee (www.mcafee.com) as the most destructive ever! This virus was discovered yesterday afternoon by McAfee and no vaccine has yet been developed. This virus simply destroys Sector Zero from the hard disk, where vital information for its functioning are stored. This virus acts in the following manner: It sends itself automatically to all contacts on your list with the title "A Virtual Card for You". As soon as the supposed virtual card is opened, the computer freezes so that the user has to reboot. When the ctrl+alt+del keys or the reset button are pressed, the virus destroys Sector Zero, thus permanently destroying the hard disk. Please distribute this message to the greatest number of people possible. Yesterday in just a few hours this virus caused panic in New York, according to news broadcast by CNN www.cnn.com). This alert was received by an employee of Microsoft itself.

    3. I suggest that you check newspapers from Tucson Ariz. after locating the marriage date of her widower. That would narrow the search for the original date, or if the AZ state death records are indexed, you might find her death date there. She may have been shipped/buried with her parents. have you checked there? Earl's parents may be listed on his death certificate, or on the second marriage record. Also I have several relatives married to English in Guernsey County Ohio. Do you have the English background for Florence? >______________________________X-Message: #1 >Date: Tue, 3 Jul 2001 09:44:51 EDT >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Message-ID: <[email protected]> >Subject: Bessie Butcher and Earl Polen >Content-Type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII" >Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit > >In a book in Fort Wayne, Indiana I found an obit for Mrs. Besse E. He spoke German and probably did not have the information in English to give the exact dates for his Military Pension request, nor did people giving his cemetery information know the correct date. This is often the case. I would think it would be wise for all of us Boston researchers to agree on this as the date we should use for Christopher. If you check, this is also copied on the website of Jacque Wooley and I believe that the website of Beth Boston also agrees with it. I think it is important for us all to have the same data, and this seems to be the best document I can find. Thanks for checking with me and I hope this helps everyone. 3. Hello Jefferson Co. OH Thompson Researchers, I noticed in the History Center in Steubenville, that there was a David and James Thompson, brothers with a father, Joseph in Ireland. Also a second James Thompson there as well. There is also a Josiah Thompson in the census for Jefferson Co. OH. in 1850, having moved there from PA. If you are searching, this might be an Irish connection for you. It does not seem to connect to my John W. Thompson line living in Jefferson Co. OH in 1805 to 1850. If you are either of these other lines, I hope this helps you.
