    3. This is from THE HISTORY OF CHESTER COUNTY PENNSYLVANIA, by Futhey and Cope Thomas BABB married Bathsheba Hussey, dau of John Hussey, near New Castle, prior to 1700, and lived in Brandywine Hundred. In 1713 his wife died, leaving several children, and he married again 3-25-1720 3-25-1720, Elizabeth Conway Booth, a widow, of MIddletown twp. Elizabeth Connaway/Conway was the daughter of Mary Hollingsworth and her first husband Thomas Connaway. (the following is fromIMMIGRATION OF THE IRISH QUAKERS INTO PA 1682-1750 , by Myers.) Mary was born 1MO 25, 1656, at Belleniskcrannell and married 4 MO 28, 1682 at Parish of Segoe, County Armagh. Thomas Conway was of the Parish of LIsburn, county Antrim. They came to Delaware with her father in 1682, and settled near him in New Castle County. Thomas Connaway died 11 Mo 30, 1688-9 and his widow married Randal Malin. Thomas Babb Jr, married Sarah ? ca 1729, and moved to VA. Peter Babb, son of Thomas settled in West Caln ca 1725, and married 11-22-1728, Mary Lewis daughter of Evan and Ann, of that township. Is my face red or WHAT! I was looking in Ohio MMs for Babbs, and looked at the Hopewell MM there, instead of VA....they ARE, of course, in the Va Hopewell MM records, with the first mention 1736, Thomas Babb Jr - Hopewell MM by Kennett MM. 3. I am researching ADAMS,DRENNEN,WEARE,GRAFTON,all in early 1800's Jefferson County. Frederick ADAMS b.1801, married Sarah GRAFTON 1825. I know nothing of Frederick's parents. It is believed he was orphaned at an early age. Sarah's parents were Robert GRAFTON and Frances DRENNEN. Robert died 1827,and is buried in Island Creek cemetery. It is believed Frances returned to WVA sometime after his death- I have nothing further back on either of these lines. Martha WEARE died 1834 in Jefferson Co, naming all of the GRAFTON children, and Frances as heirs along with several of her siblings. Would love to learn of connection between these two families. 3. http://www.rootsweb.com/~quakers/hopewell.htm This page shows Thomas Babb, grandfather of Peter Babb as being one of the "Fathers of the First Quaker Colony in the Shenandoah Valley of Virginia" He is also mentioned as such on page 357 of the Encyclopedia of Quaker Genealogy, Vol VI Also in that volume on page 362 are several Babb listings. These are listed in a section called "Hopewell Monthly Meeting". Thomas Babb was a pioneer of Frederick County, Virginia and his home near Winchester still stands. (At least it did the last time I read about it.) From BABB FAMILIES OF AMERICA by Jean A. Sargent, page 49: In Nov 1735 THOMAS (2) received a Patent to 600 acres of land on Applepie Ridge in Frederick Co., VA, near Winchester. Under the conditions of the Patent, the land had to be occupied, three acres of every fifty cleared and cultivated, and certain yearly payments made to an agent of the King. THOMAS (2) chose his sons THOMAS, JR. and PHILIP to carry out the provisions of the Patent. "Thomas (3) was a Quaker, as was his father, and on 3, 1, 1736 his certificate of Membership was transferred from the Kennett Monthly Meeting to the Hopewell MM, of which THOMAS was one of the founding fathers." The latter Thomas was my husband's 5th Great Grandfather. He lived in New Castle County, Delaware - then in Bethel Twp. in Chester County, Pennsylvania - then apparently to Frederick County, Virginia. Then with the patent, he moved to Ohio. I am looking for family information on Lillie McCRORY b.1839 Ireland who was in Steubenville bef. 1867 when she married Thomas B. TAYLOR b.1828 PA. I am looking for information on the following WILSON family: Thomas Stokely WILSON b.1813 and his brother, David S. WILSON. Both were lawyers from "The Grove" area of what is now part of Steubenville. Both moved to Iowa in the mid-1800's. I have information on all of the above that I am willing to share. Thank-you for any help you are able to give! Karla staudt@cptelco.net

These are absolute dead ends but all in Jefferson Co, Benjamin Reed - also seen as Read 1760-1833 documented in Steubenville as early as 1785, returned 1797 to 1806 possibly moved to Harrison Co. 1810 m. Jacob Smith 1780 - 1826 married in Steubenville 1802 moved Harrison/Guernsey Co.s by 1810 died Washington Twp, Guernsey Co. probably born VA. Married Lydia Elizabeth Reed dau of Ben. Have decendants, but no siblings/parents for him. George Reed (son of Benjamin) m. Susannah Swarts, Swartz or Swats 1825, believe family of Susan from Jefferson or Columbiana Co's. Benjamin Clifton b. abt 1815, mother Louisa/Lovy/Luisa from DE 2d marriage to Arthur Van Kirk (1819) - brother Theodore - sons William, David, John daus, Zerilda & Martha, several wives. Believe he moved to Washington Co. 1850, but left all children except Martha behind. Martha's mother Nancy Martin - other wives include: Mary Glenn, Anne Curfman and Lydia Seaton. Possible brother John m. Agnes McCullough moved to Pittsburg area. I am also interested in the Risdon/Risden families and anything connected to the Quaker Garretsons. Any tid-bits appreciated.
