They are doing an illegal thing! They get funding from people's tax $$$$$$$, and they should not be charging for heritagequest, any of you that did pay, you need to ask your State Att., Gen., to file a lawsuit, it is a PUBLIC library, therefore, it is supposed to be a free service! My hometown Library has this, and it is free, because it is, like all libraries in my state, A PUBLIC LIBRARY! Just a friend, in a bordering state, a neighbor, that cares for you,(like the good book says)
Public libraries and private libraries can subscribe to Heritage Quest now....they no longer sell their subscriptions to individuals. To use Heritage Quest online the people must have a Multnomah Co. library card which is free to residents of Multnomah Co. Here in Portland, Oregon the Multnomah Co. library will sell a library card to Oregonians who live outside of Multnomah Co. but it costs $75. My cousin who lives in Salem, OR can't afford the $75 so instead she subscribed to the Godfrey Library for $35. A very good deal, indeed! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 21, 2004 9:35 PM Subject: [OHJACKSO-L] heritagequest/godfrey... > They are doing an illegal thing!
