    1. [OHJACKSO-L] STROPES - JOLLY - WORTHINGTON
    2. In 1880 census, Joseph JOLLY [age 28] was married to a Samantha "Belle S." STROPES. Living with them were her half-brother Charles WORTHINGTON [age 11] and her full brother Webster SHOPES [possibly Malhon W. STROPES age 21]. All were born in Ohio. Joseph and Samantha were to have been married in 1878 in Jackson Co., Ohio. She was possibly born in Jackson Co. Ohio, the dau of William A. J. and MaryAnn STROPES. Prior to her marriage Samantha was living in Perry Co., Ohio with her mother MaryAnn and stepfather Alexander WORTHINGTON who were married in Lawrence Co, Ohio, in November 1866. Her parents, MaryAnn and William STROPES married May 27, 1855 in Jackson Co, Ohio. He was the son of Henry and Tamer [NELSON] STROPES. MaryAnn's last name has appeared under different spellings but appears to be something like SCHRIVER - SWRIVER - SWEEVER. They also had children Angeline/a, Henry, and Malhon. Any information-suggestion-direction on these families greatly appreciated. Thank you for your courtesy. Joyce [email protected]

    2. Linda, My Bowen's are in Vinton Co. (They are not related to the Bolen/Bowling line) Woodrow & Hazel Long Bowen Chester Elwood Bowen Elijah & Stella Albaugh (Or Arbaugh) Bowen Clarinda Perry Bowen David C. Bowen Denver Bowen Dorothy Mae Bowen William Jasper & Harriet Chapman Bowen Jerry M. & Bernice Wood Bowen and a few others. Down in Vinton Co are also lots of Boring's. For Gary: But I've never found a Bolin there....even though there might have been a Mill? there. But, then I wasn't looking for Bolin's down in Vinton Co. If we have a potential match, let's take off line since this doesn't pertain to Jackson Co. 3. Hi Bobbie, I am also researching the Evans family line in Jackson Co. My grandmother was Nora Evans Walton b.1885 at Glen Roy, OH. She was the daughter of David J. Evans of Wales and Elizabeth Johnson. She had two older brothers Thurman and David Evans. Her mother died when Nora was two years old and her father married 2.Dora Cornwell and their children were Rachel Evans McWilliams, Elizabeth Evans Sherman and brother Pearl"Bundy"Evans. David J.Evans married 3. Emma Brown and they had a daughter Mildred Evans Redwine. Are any of these names familiar to you?. 3. Schannon, Looks like you have the transcriptions of many Jackson Co. cemeteries. Have you seen the USGenWeb Tombstone Transcription Project website? They're making available, online, the transcriptions from cemeteries. I've done one of my local cemeteries and I'm working on another. The process is simple - just lots of typing. They're also collecting other lists in their Archives. 3. Venedocia is in the SE corner of Van Wert County, OH. My mother was born there and we visit kin there every Labor Day. It is very small (no traffic lights!). It settled largely by the Welsh and a number of Welsh moved there from Jackson County. Stupid question, I know. It is used in a Newspaper like this: George Irelan, a Vendocia man, drove to Spencerville, loaded up on spirits of corn and terribly abused is horse. He was arrested and held in prison for two days, and compelled to pay a fine. Thanks in advance, Crystal
