Schannon, does you list give any other info other than the name, rank and what company they were in. I thought this might save you a little time to look up things that can't be found on the net. According to Clara Paine Ohler in her "Ancestors and Descendants of Captain John James and Esther Denison," this son of the entitled Captain John James served in the War of 1812 under General Roop, and was a member of the Ohio Senate. I have never been able to substantiate that. If you could help, I would be so very appreciative! Leslie Great River, NY

    3. It should be noted that if your ancestor is not listed in the roster, it does not mean that he did not serve. The roster is only about 1/4 of the men who actually served. There is no one complete source, unfortunately. Other state sources are Grave Registration file cards and company election lists, as well as other miscellaneous sources. The election lists are at the OH Historical Soc, as are the Grave Reg files for the entire state (duplicates of county ones). I haven't used them in Jackson co, but if they are still in the county, they should be in the Recorders Office.
