Hi Shannon, How ice of you to go to this extent to help others with their Jackson Co. ancestors. You have gone above and beyond and it is appreciated. Hope your son's report from his doctor was encouraging, and all will be fine with his eye. Judi
did you find any Allen, Deal, Hall or Cooker names in the cemetery? I have a few missing people and so far I haven't found them in any cemeterys. My next shot is going down to Salem Cemetery and to Greenlawn in Chillicothe. Thanks! ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Wednesday, April 07, 2004 7:32 PM Subject: [OHJACKSO-L] Buckeye Cemetery > I went to Buckeye Furnace and Cemetery today. I went to Buckeye Furnace and Cemetery today. I took photos of every headstone in the cemetery and I also took photos of many thing's that has to do with the Furnace and all. If anyone might be interested in anything to do with these let me know. Schannon
I received this from another list. Pardon me if you already are aware of it.....but I thought, particularly since many of us have West Virginia ancestors, that this may be of interest. It is a petition to save a battlefield and small cemetery in danger of being lost to a Walmart / Lowe's shopping center. http://www.PetitionOnline.com/faybat04/petition.html Leslie Great River, NY
Evening there, Schannon! Please forward to me the information you listed below. I am good for the funds (I think?). I don't know if y'all know it or not but there is a free database search for Ohio War of 1812 Roster. Schannon, does you list give any other info other than the name, rank and what company they were in. I thought this might save you a little time to look up things that can't be found on the net. Take care all Marilyn http://www.accessgenealogy.com/ohio/war_of_1812.htm also the Ohio Historical Society has a site with a search engine http://www.ohiohistory.org/resource/database/rosters.html
Thanks, Crystal! If you get the chance, would you mind looking up John James? According to Clara Paine Ohler in her "Ancestors and Descendants of Captain John James and Esther Denison," this son of the entitled Captain John James served in the War of 1812 under General Roop, and was a member of the Ohio Senate. I have never been able to substantiate that. If you could help, I would be so very appreciative! Leslie Great River, NY

Joanne: Sorry, I don't have anyone by the name of Jane Rice in my info. Ron
It should be noted that if your ancestor is not listed in the roster, it does not mean that he did not serve. The roster is only about 1/4 of the men who actually served. There is no one complete source, unfortunately. Other state sources are Grave Registration file cards and company election lists, as well as other miscellaneous sources. The election lists are at the OH Historical Soc, as are the Grave Reg files for the entire state (duplicates of county ones). I haven't used them in Jackson co, but if they are still in the county, they should be in the Recorders Office. Of course, you can also send to the National Archives for pension/bounty land applications, even if you don't have a specific company or regiment of service.
Crystal thank you for looking things up. Can you find anything on Jacob S. Broughman? thanks, Susan

Thanks for the kind words Becky. We're hoping he gets well and that there is no permanant damage to the eye. Unfortunately we won't know until tomorrow now because his doctor won't be in until tomorrow..so we have another day to wait. Thanks though I appreciate it.
