They can be found in many of the newspapers that were effected by the accidents. The bigger the loss the more circulation and the longer the stories got. I have seen several in the Fort Wayne Newspapers, and found them in others. If I were looking of a specific accident, I would start checking the newspaper in Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and St Louis. I would also check the large cities in the area like Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, and Columbus where the affects of the accident would be felt. Because of the canals in Indiana and Ohio, the cargoes lost would effect merchants in any town or city receiving cargoes that were on the boat that was lost. This could effect those towns on the larger navigable Rivers in Kentucky, and the areas mentioned. If there was a really large loss, the accidents could also be reported in the commercial sections of the newspapers in New York, Philadelphia, New Orleans, Etc. Sorry if I can not help with the specific accident. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
