    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: RobertJerin Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13107.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The manifest very clearly states they are going to Cleveland O... for Ohio. Oh for goodness sake obviously the writer of the manifest did not excell in penmanship... the address is 885 Euclid Ave which was millionaires row at that time The 1900 census shows that area with many Swesish Domestics at 939 Euclid just a few homes away from 885. There is an Ida JOHNSON and a Tillie SWANSON working for FA STERLING family One person on this census page was even listed as a caplitalist. FA STERLING was part of the Sterling Linder Davis Dept store which was famous even into the mid60s for having the worlds largest Christmas tree.... must have been an exciting place in those days with the likes of John D Rockefeller and other millionaires and the busy Euclid Ave. A few years later 9th and Euclid would be the busiest intersection in the world and the first traffic light. Boh Hope sold newspapers at that intersection, with JD Rockefeller as one of his customers.
