Four brothers came here from Prussia, in the mid 1800's. Two settled in Ohio. Johann Christopher Uthe went west to Iowa, and Christopher Frederic (Fred) Uthe to Illinois. There was a fifth brother, but he stayed in Hannover, Germany because he owned a shoe factory there.Charles H. above was a son of Henry Uthe Jr.(1848 - 1922), who is a son of Henry Uthe Sr.(1816 - 1889).
