We are the strain from Central Virginia through Blacksburg, some down to Bristol area. The original settler was Jacob Broce, perported to be a Hessian soldier in the Revolutionary War. He is known to have been a ferrier and work in iron. I currently live in Surfside Beach, SC, having moved here from Bristol, TN. I have traced our name to Croatia, where there is a village named Broce Village. I have confirmed it's existence by talking with 2 Croatians and by finding it on the internet.
