    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: bakerchj Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13120.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Thanks. I have all the census images for the family. Just finding the location of his birth is what has been hounding me. I tried writing to Montgomery County, Ohio, but they did not have a record. Miamisburg is where his father Joel was from, so that was my logical starting point when I thought of Ohio. Plus, Joel's parents passed in 1907 and 1914, so I thought that the family might have moved there to help out. I have now written to the SS administration to see if I can get a copy of his SS application. Hopefully it will be thorough enough to show at least the county of birth. Author: bakerchj Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13120.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: His death certificate only says Ohio. His daughter, my aunt, was the informant and that is all she and her only surviving sibling know. The obituary is the same....just Ohio, because once again, it was written by the children and none of them, even my mom who is the oldest, knew anything other than Ohio. I have never checked his SS application. If he applied for it back in the 50's, would it be on there? All of his siblings have passed away and I have asked cousins of my mother's if they know where the family was at that time. My great grandfather was a cigar maker and went where the work was, so each of the 6 children were born in a different state. Author: soy_nadie Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13119/mb.ashx Message Board Post: The 1850 Ohio census shows Samuel T. McConaughy, son of John McConaughy & Isabelle Forsythe [my 3x great grandparents], with a 19 year old daughter named Indiana. I have not been able to find anything else about her; however, I have a question. The census records for Ohio show at least 50 Ohio girls were given the name "Indiana" between 1827 and 1835. Does anyone know why this name would have been so popular during those years? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
