Author: arctica1963 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13208/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Hello I am looking for information on John H. Manor (ancestry etc), from 1880 census approx. date of birth (1828), Virginia. He married Catharine E. Bagford (b. 1832), from Maryland. Both were resident in the Xenia, Ohio area by 1860. I think his parents were George Manor and Elizabeth Lucas; so if there is information on those it might help. Catherine Bagford was the daughter of James W.C. Bagford (born approx. 1787) and Cassandra Barnett (born approx. 1792), both from Maryland. John and Catherine Manor had a son Thomas Clinton Manor (born approx 1867, Ohio) who married Grace Myrta Simons (born approx. 1869). Hopefully there will be some pointers here, and maybe some common ancestors. Any help will be very much appreciated. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: cordero7 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13207/mb.ashx Message Board Post: This group is for anyone who has been given an E1b1b haplogroup designation. (Regardless of surname or location) http://groups.ancestry.com/site/74372455/public/ The E1b1b haplogroup, The Early Farmers, originated in east Africa. Descendants of populations of the Early Farmers can still be found there as well as in Senegal in the west and in Bantu-speaking populations in South Africa and Kenya. Many of the Early Farmers migrated from eastern Africa 25,000 years ago, finally settling in northern Africa, the Near East, and in Europe (particularly around the Mediterranean). This group makes up subgroup E1b1b1. A subgroup of the Early Farmers, E1b1b1a probably moved north from east Africa about 16,000 years ago and settled along the Mediterranean coast, in parts of the Middle East, Europe and northwestern Africa. The Early Farmers migrated still further, and their descendants can be found in about 10% of men in the Ukraine, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia. It is likely that a population of Early Farmers in the northern parts of Africa sailed across the Mediterranean and settled in Iberia (parts of modern day Spain and Portugal), Italy and Greece. Today's populations reflect that movement, allowing 15 to 30% of Greeks, Bulgarians and Albanians to claim the Early Farmers as their ancient ancestors. 2. John Gray
    3. Hi List - I was once appointed to a church in Greenfield, Highland Co., OH, and while there had the privilege of working in their public library where there is a fine genealogical collection. May I suggest you find someone to check out your ancestor's name in that collection. I never worked the surname Jones while there so I cannot say whether or not your ancestor was there. There is also a Greenville in Darke Co., OH, which is where I would next look if not in Greenfield. I am a life-long resident of Ohio but cannot say off hand if there are any other places that start with 'Green,' but I suspect there are.
