    1. [OHIO] Birth, Marriage & Death records
    2. Gayle Nyberg
    3. Listers, Thanks to all who gave me tips on where to locate the information I need to locate my ancestors. Unfortunately I was not able to find much online. I tried all of the requested sites, but they seem not to have much available online. It looks like I may have to actually go to Ohio to find anything, but I don't think that can happen very soon. It would make for a nice vacation though. At Minnesota's Historical site there is a lot of information available on the internet for free. What I can't find online, I can get at the History Center in St Paul and only have to pay 35 cents for a copy. I don't need certified copies @ $21.50 each. The kind of information I am looking for is: -------------------------------------------------------- Benjamin Franklin Brown: Born 1/1/1825 in PA. Looking for his death record in Shelby, Richland, Ohio (6/14/1896) I can find him on the US census for 1850, 1860, 1870 & 1880. Married Sarah Adams (June 4 1850 in New York) I have documentation of their marriage. Their Children: (Need Birth record for all of their sons) Chauncy Leslie Brown: b: Apr 5, 1852 in Lorain, Ohio Died: 10/28/1925: I have documentation of his death. Married Mary Sage 1/1/1878 in Crawford Cty. Mary was born in Pennsylvania 6/1/1859. She died 8/18/1894 in Ohio. Need to locate her death record. Edward Brown: b: in Ohio in 1854 - (need possible marriage and date/location of death) Cornwall J Brown: b: in Ohio in 1857 in Ohio (need possible marriage & date/location of death) (May have possibly located him living in Indiana) L. Herbert Brown: b: in Ohio in Aug 1860. Need to locate Herbert's death record . Married Lucinda (MN unknown) in 1883. Looking for marriage record to Herbert. (His widow, Lucinda, may have married Herbert's brother Chauncy after he died. I need to find a record of this marriage) -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Thanks Again, Gayle Nyberg Minneapolis, MN ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gayle Nyberg" <gnyberg1@comcast.net> To: OHROOTS@rootsweb.com Sent: Tuesday, January 26, 2010 5:40:02 PM GMT -05:00 US/Canada Eastern Subject: [OHROOTS] Birth, Marriage & Death records I am new to Ohio research and to the list. Good day all For some years I have on the track of my g.g.grandfathers brother William OVINGTON b1802 Loftus Yorkshire England Several years ago I came across the following in the LDS catalogue and wondered if there is any way to access the publication to see if there is any more detail? ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ William Ovington (1806-1847) was born near Loftis, Yorkshire, England. Mary Mead (1811-1888) was born near Leeds, Yorkshire, England. They immigrated to the United States in 1831 with her parents. They were married in 1832. They had five children, 1832-1846. She was living in Halledale County, Michigan, and John Robert Ovington (1840-1888), son of William and Mary Ovington, was living in Columbiana County, Ohio, when they were married in 1870. They had two sons, 1871-1875, born in Goshen, Mahoning County, Ohio. He died on his farm in Goshen Township, and she died at Hartford, Ohio. Includes related McConnell family. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- IN Miscellaneous Bible records : volume III / Clough Valley Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. leaves 64-66, 67-70. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have various census pages for the OVINGTON / WISNER family There is also a Bryan OVINGTON b1811 England that crops up 1850 on that I feel sure is also part of the same family I also have a reference to a will for William OVINGTON in 1847 , how might I get a copy of that ? 3. Is this a town with strong Moravian background? _Gnade_ means <grace> or <mercy> _auf Duetsch_ , and _Hut_ calls to mind the town of Herrnhut, east from Dresden, where Count Nicolaus von Zinzendorf gave part of his estate to the church group whom we know as Moravians. So this town name provokes my question. What's more, the names sound like German name-forms, too. Karl E.
