Author: arbol55 Surnames: Finnegan OBrien Slattery Krall Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13431/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I have an ancestor whose maiden name was Ellen Finnegan. She was from around Nenagh, Ireland. I have been told that her first husband was named Slattery(maybe William, not sure) and they had a daughter named Mary(born around 1855) who was born in Ohio. From census records I can see that at a later date Frank Krall had a wife named Mary, who I believe was possibly this same Mary(the Kralls are in my family tree). I have been unable to find any record of Ellen(though I have her picture) or her husband or children or when they came to the U.S. Can anyone help with info on Ellen or Mary with the last name of Slattery in Ohio? By the way, Ellen had a second husband with the last name of OBrien and they had 5 children who were born in Missouri. I will post this question on the Missouri board as well. Thank you for your help. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. We will get to uncle Silas for Dinner Thurs, uncle Sams Friday, the rest of the time at nights and until Sat. we will be at your home. Then we will go to aunt Becca's about 4 o'clock. Does this suite [sic]. Ans. Mildred. The card was postmarked Springfield, Ohio Dec 7, 1911 and sent to Mrs. Frank Bray, R.D. #1, Cozaddale, O. If this is your ancestor, I will send it to the first one I receive an email from, including your snail mail address. I will scan it and have copies in my file for others interested. 2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: DonnaMilano Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13430.3/mb.ashx Message Board Post: When searching for anyone, it helps to know the approximate year of birth. When were they born? Did they come to the US together? Or did they marry in the US? Did any children come with them? Or did they have any children here? What were the children's names? Do you know when they died? Those are all clues to help identify a particular person. The best thing to do is to try and find them in the most recent census and then work your way back (the census will give approximate date of birth and year of immigration). Quite often other family members such as a brother, sister, or parent are living with the person you're researching and may give you additional clues. I found the Sheas in several Ohio censuses. Do you have that information? Do you need it? The censuses show the years of immigration, which may help in finding them on a ship manifest. There may be naturalization papers or passport applications that might give a birth location also. There are a lot of records for Michael and Bridget's family on the Family Search site and a few for the Crowleys. http://pilot.familysearch.org/recordsearch/start.html#r=-1&p=allCollections I'll keep looking to see what I can find.
