    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: raymondmiller48 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13524.1.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: "do you know about how old they were when they married?" I do not have William's birthdate, only that he was probably born in 1849 thus marrying in July of 1871 he would have been 21 - 22. Ellouisa Carpenter was born in 1851 so she would have been 20. "Where were they born?" William Miller was born in Greenfield, Galia County as apparently was Ellouisa Carpenter. "When and where was you grandfather John Miller born?" John William Miller was born in Mason, West Virginia. One living in-law verifies this. There was a lot of movement back and forth and John William's grandfather, i.e. father of William, Felty Miller was born in what was then virginia but now is West Virginia. "When and where did John Miller and Laura Shannon married?" John William Miller and Nancy Jane Babbs were married in Perry County, Ohio 02 Nov 1902. The above named living in-law actually has the original marriage license and I have verified this with Perry County records. Before modern times it was common, often the law, that a marriage license be obtained in the resident county of the bride. "Who were John and Laura's children?" 1. Francis Raymond Miller, b. 07 May 1903, d. 24 Oct 1976 2. Flossie Miller, b.16 Feb 1906, d. unknown (teen runaway) 3. Infant Miller (sex unknown), b. 22 Dec 1910, d. 23 Dec 1910 4. John William Miller, b. 20 Jun 1917, d. 11 Dec 1990 Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: rbollmer1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13520.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I found one possibility in the 1850 census in ohio for a Jewell family that matches. In Madison twp, Licking cnty, Ohio: Isaac Jewell b. NJ 1797, Jerusha b. PA 1804, Sam b.1826 OH, Harrison b.1834, OH. Not sure if it is your family, but the dates and locations seem to match. And one would suppose that there were children born between the dates listed for the 2 sons. Also saw a Jesse Jewel in Madison, St.Joseph, IN 1850 census b. ohio which might explain how your Ruth got to IN (possible brother?). Might be something to check if you have not already seen it. I am pretty certain Louisa's parents were Alexander Carpenter and Mary Cheeseman but there are far too many William Millers. It would appear his father might be Fetly or Fetty Miller but I am not certain of this and Fetty appears to be some kind of nickname. I would also like to find who the other children of William and Louisa were besides my grandfather John Miller who married Laura Shannon, daughter of George Shannon and Nancy Babb(s). There must have been more than one child. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
