IS THAT YOUR MAIDEN NAME? I know my Grandfathers Mother (MY gR GRANMOTHER)Elizabeth Margaret Honn/Horn, had relatives that were named Casper, and they were connected the Sioux(or Blackfeet Nation) supposedly, and we could possibly connect here, as she had an alias of Maggie Jones. She also went by Margaret Elizabeth Horn, Maggie Hon, Elizabeth Honn, Maggie Louise Jones, Magga, M. E. Honn, E. M. Horn, and MARGARET C. HON., BUT SHE ALWAYS HAD HER CHILDREN WITH HER! She marr several times,PROBABLY TO A DAVID JONES, NEAR PICWAY OHIO. THEN, Mikel Hawse, and they went to Kansas, after they married then came back to Pike/Jackson/ and Adams Co., Ohio. When Mikel died, she marr my gr grandfather, Andrew "BIRD" NEWMAN, when he died she marr John Shoemaker. The she married Walter Dodds. I know they had western connections in Kansas, Mo., and also in Ark., and Ill., Ind. She didn't want her children removed to Oklahoma, and she had many alias. SHE HAD SEVERAL DOB'S! Also, She had connections also in Tulsa, Oklahoma. I have found three of her decendents in the final rolls. My Mothers side has 6 Indian lines, and they are in the rolls also, but not all in the final rolls. My Connection to TECUMSEH is thru Bazzel Newman, and possible more of the Thomas Newman decendents. It reads like a maze. I remember going to "the INDIAN Newmans" house with my grandparents when I was young, and I too lived 73 MY WHOLE LIFE.AND ABT 2 MILES FROM NEWMANS CURVE AND JAY BIRD Rd. before I went to school. I have a family photo of my grandparents with the name Thomas Newman on the back, like he may have taken it, and sent it to them. My grandfather was the caretaker of the Newman Cemetary, for many years, and I used to be his assistant! ha! no I was just in the way! I do all of my genealogy in honor of him! Author: jackfamilypa Surnames: Simon Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13585/mb.ashx Message Board Post: I know very little about my Grandfather. My mother knows very little also. His name was Robert Lestly (sp?) Simon and he was born August 6 1915, possibly in Ohio, and died Feb 10 1974 in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was my Grandmothers second husband. Her name was Louise Catherine (Strater) Clapperton Simon, and she was born Aug 26 1917 and died June 19 2004. She was born, raised and died in the City of Pittsburgh, Pa. My Grandfather, Robert, was a police officer for the City of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I got his Social Security number from the SSI Death Index, and it says that his number was issued before 1951 in Michigan. I talked with my Aunt, who was his step daughter, and she said that she believes that he had a sister that lived in Alaska, but did not know her name. My mother said that he was adopted, but my Aunt had never heard if he was or not. I believe my mother has a older half brother that was Robert's son, but she wouldn't tell me anything about him because of ! a family incident that happened when she was young. There is alot of secrecy in my mom's family, and other than when he was born, died, and his occupation, I'm not 100% on any of the other information I included here. I'm a seasoned pro when it comes to working on the family tree (7,000 in my Dad's side alone), but I am just completely stumped on where to go with this. You could start in Lake County where the father John filed for citizenship. When he filed he said he was 36 which must have been about 1879. His citizenship cert was issued 7 Apr 1884 which would be about the then-standard 5 year waiting period.
