I have been able to trace them somewhat but information has been quite scarce. I havent been able to find death certificates for either of them. I know that around the early 1900s they were in OH but thats where the information stops. Any information would be greatly appreciated. Author: luvzsun Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.ohio.unknown/13078.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: 1870 census, Perry, Lake, OH, all surnames are NASH: David S. 40 NY laborer, Mary A. 34 OH, Harriet E. 20 OH, James H. 16 OH laborer, Mary E. 13 OH, David 1 OH, Harvey S. 20 OH. It is unlikely that Harriet and Harvey were Mary's children. Harvey being listed last suggests that he was not David's son but more likely a nephew. There is a Harriet and Harvey Nash in the 1860 Chagrin Falls, Cuyahoga, OH census but their ages then don't match with those in 1870. James Harvey Nash's death cert shows that he was b 11 Dec 1854 in Perry, OH, d 30 Dec 1929 in Port Clinton, Ottawa, OH. His father was David and his mother's maiden name was Mary PRICE who was/wasn't the Mary A. in the 1870 census. The 1900 Kalamazoo MI census shows that Harvey S. Nash was 50, a match for the Harvey in the 1870 census. The only advantage of getting a copy of James' obit would be if Harriet survived him. It or her death cert may reveal her parents' names. They also shared an oral tradition with the Kickapoo that they were once members of the same tribe. Identical language supports this oral history, and since the Kickapoo are known to have originally lived in northeast Ohio prior to contact, it can safely be presumed that the Shawnee name of "southerner" means they lived somewhere immediately south of the Kickapoo http://www.tolatsga.org/shaw.html Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Anyone out there in Ohio researching the MASTERS or SLOAT families?? I do have a lot of Masters info on the family of my line, Stephen Masters b 1754 NJ d 1835 Nimishillen, Stark Co., OH. Marr. Judith SLOAT b 1764 NY d 1856. They had 12 children who married into OLMSTEAD, STOKES, SHOE, BALDWIN, LEWIS families. My main concern is Judith SLOAT. I have not been able to find her parentage or any siblings. I do believe she is part of the vast SLOT/SLOAT family but cannot find a connection. The Masters family lived in NJ>NY>OH.
