Daughter Mary is 10. It is Dorthy's first marriage. Many times people married siblings to their first spouses. So, it is possible that Rozzie and Dorthy were sisters or cousins. I have been trying to figure out who Mary Amanda Garverick's mother is since March with little success. Mary Amanda Garverick seems to have been born in Ohio around 1896 to Edward Milton Garverick and a woman named Rozzy. We have a picture labeled "Rozzy Strieb," but when I look for marriage records for Edward Milton Garverick, all I can find is a record in 1902 for Edward M. Garverick and DORA or Dorathea Streib. There is a family story that Mary Amanda's mother died young and her father remarried, but why would "Streib" pop up after both Rozzy and Dora? Is it possible that they were sisters? If that's the case, well, Dora's parents were Conrad Streib and Dorothy Mollenkopf. I can't find any listings of their children that list their daughters though, so I can't confirm. Either way, it seems like Mary Amanda's mother was this mysterious Rozzy who died sometime before 1903, and Edward M. Garverick went on to marry Dora. Anybody have any idea? There was a David Stephenson that married a Mary Davis in the area of present Rockingham Co. VA. This David and Mary had no children and David achieved the rank of Major in the Rev. War. He was held prisioner on board a British prison ship for a while. David was a son of William & Sarah Stephenson of the same area. Mary died in the Rockingham Co. area in 1815. His wife Katherine (Ante) Grossheim died 1893 and is buried at St Mary's Cemetery Sec 6, Grave 1195. Thier child may also be listed. Jacob Grossheim born 4 Sept 1889. We are the strain from Central Virginia through Blacksburg, some down to Bristol area. The original settler was Jacob Broce, perported to be a Hessian soldier in the Revolutionary War. He is known to have been a ferrier and work in iron. I currently live in Surfside Beach, SC, having moved here from Bristol, TN. I have traced our name to Croatia, where there is a village named Broce Village. I have confirmed it's existence by talking with 2 Croatians and by finding it on the internet.
