Hi, I need help, lol. I haven't researched in Ohio before so am not familiar with my options, plus this one is difficult on it's own :-) I've got a Peter Liam Murphy who was born 1806 in Ohio what are my options on trying to find out where? He ended up in Spencer county, Indiana and was married in Dearborn County, Ind. I'm heading to the local FHC after work to see if they have any films there, for wills, probate, marriage - but I thought I'd work both ends if possible. Peter named one of his sons Lehue, and there is a John Murphy who married a Susannah LeHue in Campbell county, KY in 1797. Yesterday I went to the local library that has genealogy and looked through their books (I'm in Calif, so it wasn't huge, but still took me 2hrs), but started getting frustrated since there were/are tons of John Murphy's! I tried the Ohio birth database on familysearch but it doesn't start until 1821. William, Peter's first child (that I know of) was born in KY about 1834 the rest in Indiana, 1836-55 (1850 in Spencer co, IN & maybe in Dearborn in 1840) any suggestions? The son Paul was then 6 months old. Fast forward to 2003, this obit published in "The Blade" (Toledo, OH) on Saturday, November 29th: >Paul Roger McConocha, age 74, of Perrysburg, Ohio, passed away peacefully on Thanksgiving Eve, November 27, 2003, during a beautiful sunset, at the Hospice Center of Northwest Ohio. He fought a quick battle with cancer. Paul was born November 30, 1929, in Dayton Ohio, to Paul V. and Edna McConocha. After graduating from Roosevelt High School, where he was active in sports, he served in the United States Marine Corps. Paul's career in the glass and distributing business took him to Toledo Ohio to Ohio Plate, later to McKimmey and Elliot, and finally to Toledo Mirror and Glass where he retired in 1994. He and his wife, Barbara celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary November 10th, 2000, in the Caribbean; she departed July 2nd, 2001. Survivors include sons, Randall L. McConocha, (wife) Susan, Columbus, Ohio, Kent D. McConocha, (wife) Bobbie, Walbridge, Ohio; daughter, Paula J. McConocha, Perrysburg Ohio; granddaughter, Kaitlin E. McConocha, Rossford, OH, and Adam L. McConocha, Walbridge. Paul enjoyed his retirement with Barbara, including travel, boating, fishing, family and good friends. His outlook on life and sense of humor will be missed. Paul requested his remains go to the Donation Program, Department of Anatomy of the Medical College of Ohio. There will be no visitation or services. The family wishes to thank St. Vincent's Hospital, Dr. Stiff, and Judy S. at Hospice. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio, (30000 E. River Road, Perrysburg, Oh, 43551) and The American Lung Association. I am not related. Edna's mother was Mary Louise Roop Watkins, sister to my grandfather Bernis Ivan Roop. All photos of my grandmother Violet Emma Hofer Roop (who died in 1918) were burned by a stepmother; and only one photo of my mother exists from that time. I'm hopeful that Edna's descendants may have, among their family photos, some of my grandmother & mother from that time. Here's hoping! Thank you.
