In it, you volunteered to do lookups in the following book - 5. "Huron County, Ohio Marriages, 1815-1900, Compiled and Published by Scheuer Publications, 1992." I wonder if you have time, if you would mind looking up for me to see if there is a listing for a marriage for HIRAM WHITCOMB and HANNAH BUTLER. We believe that could be Hannah Webb Butler, but are not entirely sure. Hiram was born 1803 and Hannah 1802. I sincerely appreciate your very kind offer. Thanks so much. Margie Seeman MargieS3@aol.com >> Hi Margie, I couldn't find a record of the marriage of your Hiram WHITCOMB and Hannah BUTLER in our Marriage Book, but a cemetery inscription for their son, John M. WHITCOMB, suggests they were married before 1830. I also found a brief, but interesting, reference to this couple in our History of Huron County, Ohio, by A.J. Baughman, 1909. Details: 1. In a biographical sketch on Roswell Derby,Sr., it mentions that he married Mary Ann WHITCOMB, daughter of Hiram and Hannah (BUTLER) WHITCOMB, on 27 Jun 1849. Mary Ann's paternal grandfather, Thomas WHITCOMB, participated in the Revolutionary War, "serving as what was known as a cowboy." Hiram WHITCOMB came to Huron County from Herkeimer County, NY about 1842 (settling in Townsend Township). Note; You might want to look in this County in NY for the marriage record of Hiram and Hannah WHITCOMB. Regards, Ken Shute, in MD (kwsroots@aol.com).
