At that time I did not know his father's name, but today in the mail I received his death certificate and it lists his Father and Mother as Frank Miller and Anna Orley. Philip's obit stated that the family came to Sherman Twp. in 1852, when Philip was ten years old. Thanks again for your wonderful help. >> For Denise Pitzen. Hi Denise, The following are Huron County, Ohio references I found which appear to relate to your Frank MILLER. The references came from HCC/OGS publications, unless otherwise indicated. 1. Just Like Old Times, by Henry Timman, published originally in the Norwalk Reflector. Book 6, Page 94, Article titled: Poisoning struck family from Bismark in 1903, dated Oct. 14, 1988. This article mentions the names of a MILLER family who lived in Bismark, Sherman Township. These named MILLERs might possibly relate to descendents of your MILLER family. The article identifies Bismark as the home of St. Sebastian's Catholic Church, and the home of German Catholics who settled there in the early 1830s. The article describes the tragic, accidental poisoning of a Joseph MILLER, his brother Frank, Frank's wife, and her father John JOHNS, all of whom moved from Bismark to a farm near Winimac, Indiana in 1903 where the accidental poisoning occurred on Nov. 24, 1903. Reportedly, Mrs. Frank MILLER had preserved some sardines in a mustard and vinegar combination, and then added a celery seed preparation to the dish, after a suggestion by a friend. It was thought that the celery seed was tainted. After eating the sardines, John and Frank MILLER died on Nov. 24th, while Mrs.MILLER and her father lived three days longer. To add a few details to Ken's reply: Philip's mother was Anna Maria ORPHEY (not Orley). She was born in Schmittweiler, GER, 18 May 1810. Her parents were Johann Paul ORPHEY and Elisabethe WEIS. Philip's father, Frank (Franz MUELLER), was born 14 Nov 1806 in Bruecken, GER. His parents were Franz MUELLER and Elisabethe BAUER. They were married 14 Jan 1833 in Kuebelberg, GER (the village of Schmittweiler used the church in Kuebelberg). I believe they lived in Bruecken until they emigrated. They arrived 19 April 1852 on the ship Orleans from LeHavre to New York. The above info is from the Kuebelberg Family Book (FHL film no. 0400413) and the passenger arrival record. --Dave Velten ----- Original Message ----- From: <Kwsroots@aol.com> To: <OHHURON-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 10, 2000 3:18 PM Subject: [OHHURON-L] Re: MILLER, ORLEY In a message dated 8/9/00 2:54:25 PM Eastern Daylight Time, Femailman@aol.com writes: To add a few details to Ken's reply: Phil << Subj: HCC%20lookup Date: 8/9/00 2:54:25 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: Femailman@aol.com To: kwsroots@aol.com Dear Ken: A few weeks back I sent in a request for information on my great great Grandfather, Philip Miller.
