    1. Re: [OHHURON-L] Question about the Ohio Army
    2. Hi, Tom I can provide some informatoin on the Ohio 25th Volunteer Infantry division from a book written by my Great Grandfather, Edward C Culp. The book is rather dry reading, but lists people in the various companys and described some of the action the group saw. Most of the group apparently came from the Norwalk area and he was in that division with ranks from private to Colonal. After the war, he also served as Sheriff of Huron county about 1870. What names are you looking for? **** The name I am looking for is *John Hart*. Let me give a bit of background if I may. I was given a picture of my Great great Grandfather, and Grandmother about 2 years ago. My GGGrandfather and GGGrandmother are each holding a child. The older child is my GGrandmother -- we know that she was born in 1858, and appears [not entirely certain] that she is about 3 years old. That would of course make the year 1861-1862 [roughly]. In this picture the man appears to be wearing some type of war uniform. Dark coat, with at least one button visible.....lighter [baggie] pants. What is interesting about this man as well is that I am told he was a Cherokee Indian....that isn't confirmed -- and finding any record of him is like finding a needle in a haystack. Last night...reading my childs history book -- I came acrossed the fact that there was an "Ohio Army"....which of course lead me to another possible lead in learning more about him. I can't even say that he was in the military, and I am only suggesting that he *might of been* :-). So! thats where I am at in regards to the question I asked. Any further help would be appreciated -- and thanks for the information that has been sent! --Sharon
