Hello list, I'm looking for information on an Alexander PORTER, a lawyer., who located to New London in 1858 and was twice elected mayor of the village, three time Justice of the peace, and also a postmaster in 1870 & 1871. He was elected prosecuting attorney of that county. Is there anywhere where I may find information to document these things? would the library in New London be a good place to start or is there somewhere else to research? Where would I find land deeds and tax records? He died 11/21/1873, buried Grove St. Cemetery, New London Twp, Huron Co. Would appreciate any help. Maureen
