He was a local New London historian who published a column in several newspapers in the 1920's and 1930's about the New London and Ruggles area. Among the 350 plus pages is a 3 page article on this Alexander Porter. The softbound book of these newspaper columns, by the way, was compiled and published by Huron Co Chapter member Thomas Stephen Neel in 1992, and there are a bunch of copies left!
