It's a little complicated but here goes: John Courtright first shows up for sure when he married 1797 to Mary Clark (don't laugh!) in the Stillwater Church in sussex co., NJ. Then their daughter Sarah was born 1798, however her baptism wasn't recorded untill 8 years later in the Minisink dutch Reformed Church, along w/ a lot of other late entries. Most were connected to the John Kortright/Susanna Kittle clan, including Westfalls & Deckers. (John & Susanna baptised a son in Minnisink in 1780.) Then in 1800 John shows up in the census for Beaver Co., PA, that's near Pittsburgh & was just formed from Washington Co.,PA that year. A Thomas Cortwright was in Greene Co., PA a few years later, that county also formed from Washington Co.,PA. More on him in another note. In 1800 John had a wife & 2 kids listed, which would be Sarah born 1798 & Jacob V. born 1799, although he gets younger in the later census records. :>) they stayed in Beaver co until 1818 when they moved just across the state line into Columbiana co., OH. Interestingly that's the same year the Coshocton Cortrights made their move. John was last in the 1830 Jefferson Co., OH census, his son Jacob V. was still in Columbiana but in 1850 he moved to Huron Co. The Westfalls & Figleys were all in on these moves. In fact in 1850 Jacob V. was living next door to the Westfalls & Deckers. Jacob's sister Rebecca, the youngest, moved to the Fort Wayne IN area in 1855 & another brother moved to CA, but the rest stayed in OH. John's son William married Mary Sergent, who is possibly the d/o Thomas Sergent & Naomi Westfall. The counties I've found them in so far include: Athens, Belmont, Carroll, Columbiana, Harrison, Huron, Jefferson, Putnam, Seneca & Tuscarawas.
