    1. [OHHURON-L] Ellis Island Immigration Records
    2. Yesterday evening's local news here described a web site announcing the soon to be completed American Family Immigration History Center at the Ellis Island Immigration Museum, and accessible via the internet. The web site is: ellisislandrecords.org. The data base will contain immigration records of 17 million people who immigrated through the port of New York, 1892-1924, "the peak years of Ellis Island processing." (Just my luck--- my parents arrived at Ellis Island from England a year later, in 1925). Among other information, the data base will include name of immigrant and ship, port of origin, arrival date, age, marital status, nationality, and last residence (town and country). A nominal fee will also buy a scanned reproduction of the original ship's manifest containing the entry, and a picture of the ship on which the immigrant arrived. Regards, Ken Shute
