    3. Hi again Ken, I didn't realize you didn't live in New London. Sorry about that, and thank you so much for all the information. This mail with the explanation came in after the picture you sent me personally. Now with a birth date for Martin, I have been able to tie him to Jonas Motter from the 1850 Ruggles Twp. Census. This is really great. Thank you so much. Jonas is the brother to our Balser Motter. If there is someone on the list that may know the building in New London I'm talking about, it's not the house of Martin's, but the VFW hall is in there now, that's the one I would like to know which Motter owned. It is close to the railroad tracks, I remember that. It's terribly run down, but has so much charm, I hope someone will refurbish it. I love places like this. We just don't have that many really old buildings out here in the Wild West. Ken, I'll send you a photo as an attachment, wish I could send it to the list, but know I can't, so if anyone else is interested I'll send them one personally. Thanks again, Myrna Singer Casey

    1. [OHHURON-L] Courtwright, Decker & Westfall

    3. My Courtright family is a major brick wall for me. My John Courtright & Mary Clark were married 1797 in Sussex Co., NJ. There has been a lot of research on this family in early NY/NJ. I know all the earliest history of this family but need my missing link to connect to the main line. In the Minisink area of NJ there were many Courtrights, Deckers, Westfalls & Clarks. They can be found on almost every page of the Reformed Dutch church records. I know all abt Solomon Courtright who died 1844 in Peru, Huron Co., OH. However he doesn't seem to be closely related to my John. At least I know he's not a sibling or parent & so of no help in my research. By 1800 John & Mary moved to Beaver Co., PA (near Pittsburgh), then across into Columbiana Co., OH in 1818. John was last in Jefferson Co., OH in 1830 as was his oldest son Jacob V. Courtwright. However by 1850 Jacob moved to Norwich Twp., Huron Co. His neighbors being Simon Westfall his wife Esther Brink & their daughter Jane Westfall who was married to Peter G. Decker, & their children James & Cornelia Decker. Most of Jacobs children seem to have moved over to Venice Twp., Seneca Co., OH, as well as James Decker. However Jacob's nephew James Courtwright (s/o Isaac) moved to Huron between 1901-1909 along w/ his wife Barbara Cook. To complicate matters further their daughter Martha , b. 12/12/1878 -1944, married Grant W. Courtright c1893. Now Grant was the s/o Harmon B. Courtright but I have no idea who he was!? If anyone knows of these families I would love to share information. Thanks, Cindy Cindy Torres Owens cindyo@va.prestige.net http://www.familytreemaker.com/users/o/w/e/Cindy-L-Owens/index.html
