Hi Listers, As pointed out by a kind person on the list, I would probably get more help if I included more info. I was concentrating on the name variations so much that I neglected to put in things like dates, parents, Etc. Sorry about that, I know better than that! So here is the original info I sent and a little more I know of the family. Is anyone doing marriage look-ups? In attempting to break down a brick wall I am looking for the marriage name of my gg-grandfather's sister. This could prove to be a problem. All I know is that her first name was listed as Carrie in a bio about her sister and brother-in-law. So I guess possible given names could be Catherine, Caroline, or Carolyn, or maybe it's just Carrie. The last name could also be confusing. It seems my family spelled it different every time they wrote it. Schenk, Schank, Shank and I have recently seen it as Schenck. If anyone could see if they could find Carrie's marriage, I would greatly appreciate it! Here's what else I know: I believe Carrie's parents were Franz Schenk And Helen (maiden name unknown). Carrie and her siblings were all born in Germany (all the obits and bios of the siblings say Germany but one obit says Alsace-Lorraine Germany so I suspect that it was actually France) as Helen died before they came to the U.S. I don't have a birthdate for Carrie but I do for her siblings. They are: Frank b. 1835 (my gg-grandfather) Benjamin b. 1837 Elry b. 1840 Josephine b. 1844 Gather b. 1846 The family came to the U.S. about 1850. First went to Sandusky. Then moved to Huron Co. The family attended St Sebastian's Catholic in Bismarck, Ohio and many are buried there. Some of the family changed the spelling of the name to Schank, and my part of the family went to Shank. I am not aware of any part of my family staying with Schenk but that doesn't mean they didn't because I recently found my g-grandfather's marriage record and the name was spelled Schenck - I had never seen the second "c" in the name before in reference to my family. Again I apologize for the lack of info in my first message and I hope some one can help me out with some info on Carrie. Thank you in advance for your help.
Boy am I having trouble with this request. The last sibling should be Agatha not Gather - don't know what happened there. And it might help if I signed my name. Sorry All!
