Maureen, This is pretty blatant here, but why don't you buy a copy of the book "The Columns of William Byron Thom," for $10 plus $3 shipping/handling. He was a local New London historian who published a column in several newspapers in the 1920's and 1930's about the New London and Ruggles area. Among the 350 plus pages is a 3 page article on this Alexander Porter. The softbound book of these newspaper columns, by the way, was compiled and published by Huron Co Chapter member Thomas Stephen Neel in 1992, and there are a bunch of copies left! Hi, Sounds like a good book. How do I order one? Did you pass the mail box on you way to work the other day. I hate to think of my new found cousin as having any bad habits. My grandfather always said Coleman blood and Hickey blood could do no wrong. you might not have Hickey but you got the Coleman. I found out a little more about Emmett if he is Patrick and that is he joined the war out of Maine with his place of residence being Biddeford and his father also a Patrick joined at the same time. I just hoping at some point to connect the P. in Emmett P. to being Patrick. There is a fellow writing a book on 10-14 years old in the Maine Inf. and he thinks because of Emmett headstone and age at time of death that it must be the same person as no other Hickey in Maine Civil War Archives match. So who knows, have written to the Huron County Probate Court for some records may tell us something. Take care let me know about the book and have a good long weekend Gail At 03:34 PM 4/13/01 +0000, you wrote: >Maureen, >This is pretty blatant here, but why don't you buy a copy of the book "The >Columns of William Byron Thom," for $10 plus $3 shipping/handling.
