Ohio Mariages 1815-1900 Lookup request Date: 9/9/00 2:13:20 PM Eastern Daylight Time From: ImNetz@aol.com To: kwsroots@aol.com Hi Ken, I found 2 marriages for Eayre O. Stiles in LDS records. Could you verify them for me in your book and if there is any additional information i.e. parents of the wives etc. pass that along also. Eayre O. Stiles married "John_ St. John" (I'm not sure I understand the name) on 12 May 1844, Huron Ohio Eayre O. Stiles married Mary E. Skinner on 22 August 1848, Huron, Ohio I have just joined the Huron Co. Mail list because of this new information. I was researching my husband's Eastern Shore Virginia family and it turns out his great-grandfather, John W. Stiles (Eayre's son) was born in Indiana. The Stiles were a New Jersey family who went out west and appear in the 1850 Indiana census and are back in New Jersey in 1860. They appear to have stopped in Ohio for awhile and at least two of them found wives there. Eayre's brother Jacob also married in Ohio and ended up on the Eastern Shore in the 1870's. And then a couple of his nephews also moved to Accomack County. They were farmers in the midwest but sailors and oystermen in NJ and VA. I really appreciate your help! Nanette Davis in NC >> Hi Nanette, I found the two marriages of your Eayre STILES, the marriage of a Jacob STILES, and the marriage of John SKINNER, apparently the father of Mary E. SKINNER who was the second wife of Eayre STILES. Details: 1. Huron County, Ohio Marriages, by Scheuer Publications. Eayre STILES m. Jane ST. JOHN 12 May 1844. Eayre STILES m. Mary E. SKINNER 22 Aug 1848. Jacob STILES m. Marsha ELLIS 28 Dec 1845. John SKINNER m. Emeline FRISBEE 26 Dec 1827. 2. History of the Fire Lands, by W.W. Williams, 1879. Page 301. New Haven Township. Reuben SKINNER arrived in New Haven Township in 1814. The wife of Reuben was Sarah COLEMAN. They had eight children: Rebecca, James Joseph, Alfred, John, Ruth, Asel Harrison and Harriet.......John lives upon the old homestead. He married first Emeline FRISBEE, and second Maria REUBENS. Page 317. New Haven Township. In a biographical sketch on John SKINNER it mentons that he married first Emeline, daughter of Ebenezer and Deborah FRISBEE of New Haven Township, in 1832. Emeline died in 1835 and John remarried on 4 May 1836. One child of John and Emeline SKINNER married Eayer O. STILES and located in the state of New Jersey, where she died. (Note: The marriage year for John and Emeline SKINNER is given above (page 317) as 1832, while the marriage record shows 1827. No specific name was given for the daughter of John and Emeline SKINNER on either page 301 or 317 of the Fire Lands book, but I assume it was Mary E. SKINNER from the marriage record. I could not find the second marriage of John SKINNER and Maria REUBENS in our marriage book.) 3. Huron County, Ohio Cemetery Inscriptions. New Haven Cemetery, New Haven Township. Page 396.
