This is just my opinion, and I am not a lawyer, but this information, if it were from the United States (I know it probably is not) would be in the public domain, and when the Social Security administration sued Ancestry, trying to prevent the SSDI from being available, they lost because the courts decided, basically, that there are no privacy issues with the dead. I think this is probably the situation here. OTH, I think the person who agreed to help you with the expenses and then did not would be in breach of contract if you had signed one. But these are only my opinions, and if you really want to know you should consult a lawyer. Is it worth it?
