I belive your ASA CARPENTER and my ORSON CARPENTER were brothers. Orson was born about 1807.According to his obituary he was "from York state" however from the census he was from Connecticut. So far I've not found his parents. Orson is buried in "Christian Church Cemetery" Ripley, Ohio. I'm trying to find the church that might have the old records of this church, in the hopes the marriage records might list the parents. So far there has been no reply. If you live close-by you might persue this avenue in person and get better results. (I'm in Illinois). I've asked my son to check for CARPENTERS in my grandmother's autograph book.
