Can I ask what anyone did to get $250.00 for research? I paid to have research done from a wonderful woman in England and I never paid any where near that much money. when I saw that amount I was floored. Did not know anyone got that much, If that is true I must be in the wrong business. Just curious. Norma/Ohio
I pay a researcher in Germany $14 for each record he finds in church birth, marriage and death records. I tell him my interests and limits. If he has to pay to use records (often a $5 entry fee) I pay that because he might find nothing. I have paid him several hundred dollars over a two year period and have lots more information on my family in the 1600-1800 time range in several locations. I went to Germany and did my own research three times over a thirty year period (I always had other purposes for the trip too) and met cousins, but I would say I now have much more information from the researcher. I have been lucky and can afford the fee and I have shared it with a wide range of 1st, 2nd , 3rd and 4th cousins in the US. I have met several cousins by posting or sharing information and have stopped by to visit a few when we travel. My researcher has also directed me to free sources, and to some specialist researchers who have very inexpensive information, like a Danish census for $5. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, February 08, 2004 2:57 PM Subject: Re: [OHHURON-L] Thank-you for the Feedback (QUESTION) > Can I ask what anyone did to get $250.00 for research?
