    2. Mary McGe, I don't know what time frame you're wondering about, but I 'm told some moved to Huron County to work on the Erie Canal. Pat

    3. Hello All, >Can anyone tell me what time period it was completed? > >I am familar with the Wabash - Erie canal in east-central Indiana. The Wabash - Erie canal connected into the Miami and Erie Canal which ended in Toledo, Ohio. It was opened in 1845 and for the most part not maintained after 1910. You can see a section in action at Grand Rapids, Ohio during the summer time. There was also a Canal that ran from Lake Erie to Milan, Ohio. The Erie Canal ran from Albany to Buffalo in NY state. I don't know of a canal in Huron Co., OH. Many Irish and other nationalities did a great deal of work on the canals. Ron Garner Former historic interpreter at Isaac Ludwig Mill, Grand Rapids, Ohio
