Lots of different spellings on these surnames. Probably mid-1800s. Thanks. Kathy >> Hi Kathy, I could not find the marriage of Michael BAILEY (with variations) and Kunigunda HILTZ (with variations) in our Huron County, Ohio Marriages, 1815-1900, by Scheuer Publications, 1992. However, our 1870 Census Index for Huron County, Ohio implies that Michael BAILEY and Kierney (Kunigunda, etc.) BAILEY were the parents then of at least four children ranging in age from three months (apparently twins) to age five. The five year old would suggest that Michael and Kierney were married by 1865 or earlier. Michael would have been born ca 1830, while Kierney would gave been born ca 1835. Also, Michael and Kierney are listed as being born in Germany (Baden). Since a cemetery inscription (page 508 of the Cemetery Inscriptions book) states Kunigunda (=Kierney) HILTZ arrived in this country from Baden Baden Germany in 1842 (when she would have been about seven years old) it seems that Kunigunda=Kierney married Michael in the U.S. rather than Germany. Details: The following BAILEYs are listed on census page 529 for Monroe Village in the 1870 Census Index. Read first name, age, and place of birth. Fred, _, OH Hannah, 05, OH Henry, 03, OH Josephine, 3/12, OH Kierney, 35, Baden Mary, 3/12, OH Michael, 40, Baden. In the 1880 Census Index for Huron County, Ohio: Michael BAILEY, Ridgefield Twp, 211A. Regards, Ken Shute, in MD (kwsroots@aol.com).
